World's Leading Cardiologists Say Statins are Useless; Do this Instead

The cardiologists’ research was published in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology.

The study, involving almost 1.3 million people, showed that high cholesterol readings—be it ‘good’ or ‘bad’ cholesterol, may have very little bearing on heart disease.

So why do most people think the opposite is true?

The commonly-held theory is that ‘bad cholesterol’, known as ‘LDL’ creates clogged arteries.

Yet, the researchers’ findings showed that patients who have experienced a heart attack are the only group of people who could benefit from using statins. Those who have not suffered a heart attack received absolutely no benefit from the drugs.

So convincing are the study’s results, that the scientists behind the research are now suggesting ‘clinicians should abandon the use of statins and PCSK-9 inhibitors’ to patients who have not suffered a heart attack.

Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a NHS cardiologists, agreed with the study’s findings, despite not being an active member of the research team. In an interview with the DailyMail, Dr. Malhotra agreed that, ‘…the only people that should be offered statins are those with established heart disease risk…for everyone else…they should know statins won’t help them live one day longer’.

Previous Studies Also Slam Statins.

Statin drugs may be THE most controversial pharmaceutical drug. On one side, many doctors believe they are under-prescribed, while others claim they are excessively used.

This new study, however, has shaken up the statin debate.

Yet, it is not the first study to show that concerns about statin drugs are well founded. Another recent study demonstrated that using statins for the purpose of preventing heart disease in the elderly was also ineffective.
